MAY SKY INC. WINS APEX 2006 AWARD OF EXCELLENCE RECOGNITION FOR CAMPAIGN ON BEHALF OF HUDSON VALLY'S RONNYBROOK FARM DAIRY
Poughkeepsie, NY: May Sky Inc. the Poughkeepsie, NY based creative agency, has been awarded the national APEX 2006 Award of Excellence for its creative print advertising campaign on behalf of Ronnybrook Farm Dairy. The celebrated Hudson Valley, New York dairy is known for its fresh line of milk products. “We’re exceptionally proud of this recognition,” said May Sky Inc.
president and creative director Darren Press.
“Winning an award of this caliber is a very special honor,” he said. “Along with the Dalton Pen Award for writing and the nine awards that May Sky won in recent months, we are very grateful to our exceptional clients and to the advertising community for these recognitions.”
The winning ad depicts a red-suited, portly fellow sporting a white beard (Could it be Santa?) who is about to enjoy a bit of Ronnybrook Farm Dairy Eggnog. “Kickin’ Back with a Farm Fresh Frothy One,” reads the caption. The full-color ad appeared in many Hudson Valley publications and in-store posters during the 2005/2006-holiday season.
May Sky’s creative work was selected from among thousands of entries. Commenting further, Press said, “We speak to the reader. For our Ronnybrook Farm Dairy Santa ad, that won us the APEX award, our goal was to convey a sense of warmth and honesty, with a dash of humor. This ad makes you smile…. Kickin’ back in the midst of your busiest season of the year is something we can all relate to! It’s what we call our human impact approach to advertising. “
According to the APEX 2006 judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness." Awards were given in 11 main categories including: newsletters; magazines and journals; magazines and newspapers; annual reports; brochures, manuals and reports; video and electronic publications; Web and intranet sites; campaigns, programs and plans; writing; design and illustration; and one-of-a-kind publications.
The APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators. The awards are sponsored by Communications Concepts, Inc., publishers of business communication reports.
